JavaScript Job: Front End Developer

Reports to: Rachel Slininger, Customer Experience Director

Position Overview
Five Q is looking for a passionate, innovative, results-oriented, proven digital leader to fill a crucial position on the team. This role requires a leader who can demonstrate deep commitment to success and innovation, and who will support the overarching business objectives and company brand.

Objective
The primary objective of the Front End Developer is to use your knowledge of programming languages to create user-side applications, including visual elements like menu bars, clickable buttons and the overall layout of websites or web applications.

This successful Front-End Developer candidate will provide quality, detail-driven design and development services for both our project and support teams. Armed with working experience and a solid understanding of HTML and CSS, this candidate will also need a keen eye for good design principles and the ability to comfortably execute in Photoshop or Affinity Design. The ability to clearly communicate processes and objectives is essential to this position.

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

● Communicating with clients to identify their needs

• Optimizing websites for different formats like desktops, tablets, and mobile devices
• Running core tests to ensure code strings perform the correct functions
• Working with internal team members and clients to develop the overall look and design of a website
• Write code with programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
• Make use of TailwindCSS within designs.
• Producing, maintaining, and modifying websites and user interfaces
• Embedding code, images, audio and video clips into client websites
• Creating tools that enhance the user’s website experience
• Routinely testing websites for ease of use, speed, and other quality factors
• Fixing any technical issues or bugs that arise
• Participating in key discovery projects for website, mobile, or other custom projects that include asking key clarifying questions, identifying key systems and processes, creating wireframes, and providing recommendations in architecture, systems, and needs moving forward
• Add content, build page layouts, and design pages according to industry best practices and standards in our Ministry Impact Platform
• Assisting with key digital creative initiatives for Five Q and our clients
• Work with back-end developers to integrate UI components with APIs and databases
• Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical requirements or UX design
• Debug errors, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine performance optimizations
• Write high-quality, scalable, and reusable code
• Stay plugged into emerging technologies and industry trends

Qualifications:

Skills:
B.S. in Computer Science / Engineering, web development, or equivalent experience.

• Proficiency in website programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (Vue and React skills is a plus).
• Understanding of key website design principles, SEO optimization, core web vitals, and Photoshop or Affinity Designer
• Ability to use client input to create functional, creative, and user friendly web pages
• Ability to test and debug technical issues
• Analytical and detail oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• Observant and able to remain focused on tasks for long periods of time
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with JavaScript
• Some Experience with Javascript frameworks such as Vue, React, Angular, or Svelte
• Proficiency with HTML5, including semantic HTML5 elements, microformats, and WAI-ARIA
• Experience with TailwindCSS
• Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as Sass, Less, or Stylus
• Ability to modify some PHP code as needed
• Some experience with build tools such as Gulp, Vite, or Webpack
